Cancer Awareness Night – October 7th

cancer_awareness_jv_2015No One Fights Alone. Olympia Volleyball’s Cancer Awareness Night is Friday, October 7th at our home match against Emerald Ridge (JV/C 3:30 pm, Varsity 5:00 pm). The players will be wearing shirts the color of the cancer that affects them for warm-ups and during the remainder of the evening. Families and friends are encouraged to participate by either ordering shirts as well (link below) or wearing a shirt of similar color.

Players will also be collecting donations for the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. For each $1 donation, receive a ticket to the Oly Bear serving contest. Between sets two and three of the Varsity match, ticket holders serve for prizes. Each ticket equals one serve, so the more tickets you have the more chances you have to hit one of the prizes. Past prizes include great t-shirts, pizza and gift certificates!

T-shirt-designs-colorsTo show support, you can order cancer awareness shirts for yourself, your family and friends. This is one of our Community Connection events and not only raises money, but also brings awareness of the many people touched by cancer.

Order your shirts as soon as possible! You can choose the color of the cancer you are affected by. We would love to see a gym full of people decked out in cancer awareness t-shirts.

All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. Come out and support the cause!

Car Wash Tickets For Sale – only $5!

Carwash_LogosPlayers are selling tickets this week that are redeemable for one car wash at drive-thru car wash locations throughout the Puget Sound region. The tickets cost $5.00 each. This is a REALLY good deal because the a car wash at these outlets retails for $7.00 and it is a service we can all utilize. The tickets are good for a full year. There are six local car wash businesses participating:

There are more car wash locations around the Puget Sound so friends and family outside our area can help the effort too! Click here to view the full list.

This is OUR BIG program fundraiser. The OHS ASB volleyball allocated money generally pays for the basics: volleyballs, knee pads, replacement nets, etc. So, we raise funds for EVERYTHING else. Proceeds pay for things like:

  • Practice shirts and shorts
  • The game day shirts
  • New warm-ups
  • Help to pay for the new upright pole system
  • New iPad
  • Website fees

Checks can be made out to “OLYMPIA VOLLEYBALL ASB”. We are asking players to turn in their money by next Wednesday, September 21st.

If you want to buy a ticket or two to support the program email us and we’ll be in touch.

Food Bank Night 2016 – September 22nd

Help Olympia Bears Volleyball Support the Thurston County Food Bank!

This year’s annual Food Bank Night will be our home match against Graham Kapowsin High School on Thursday, September 22. Fun, prizes and great community support: Food Bank Night is not to be missed. The standard admission fee still applies, but for every 3 cans of food (or for each $1 donation) you bring, you’ll receive a ticket to the Oly Bear serving contest. Then, between sets two and three of the varsity match, ticket holders serve for prizes. Each ticket equals one serve, so the more tickets you have the more chances you have to hit one of the prizes. Past prizes include t-shirts, pizzas and gift certificates. It’s a true win-win for our community and our supporters!

Thurston County Food Bank – Sept. 2015

Your support on Food Bank Night gives us great momentum for our Community Service Day when in lieu of volleyball practice, Varsity, JV and C teams sort and package donated food at the Thurston County Food Bank.

Last year, our supporters donated just over $120 in cash and 213 cans of food. With your help, we can raise even more this year! See you on September 22! JV/C starts at 5:45 pm and Varsity begins at 7:15 pm.
